It's the day after Thanksgiving here in the United States, so it's the right time to see what the leftover turkeys in Birtherstan are up to.

Anti-Semitic Internet Outhouse Andy Martin has a movie he's pimping, soon to be seen on YouTube. The birtherstani get their panties in a knot about Obama doing the same thing Bush did. James Manning is still smoking crack, but is trying to backpedal on his calling for Obama's death. One of Dr. Orly's supporters shows his racist stripes, a breakdown of the birther cases shows how badly they're doing. The fantasy tiddlywinks league flames out in court again, while their radio show warns about the "chocolate nuisance in the White House". Berg makes a reappearance in birtherdom, not just in Hollister v 'Soetoro' but elsewhere as well. AXJ-Orange County finds my blog, and Gary Kreep is in bed with World Nut Daily

I'd like to start out with an interesting find.

It's a matter of faith among many birthers that Lolo Soetoro adopted Barack Obama and therefore Obama took Lolo Soetoro's last name. Philip Berg is particularly fond of the "Barry Soetoro" name.

There's just one little glitch in this idea.

Indonesia is 86.1% Muslim. Lolo Soetoro himself was a non-practicing Muslim, and the birthers LOVE to hint that Obama himself is a "stealth Muslim". So what does Islam teach about adoption??

The Islamic laws on adoption are called "Kafala".

"While raising someone's else child is allowed and, in the case of an orphan, even encouraged, the child does not become a child of the new parents. This form of adoption where children retain membership to their original family is called, in Arabic: kafala‎. This implies for example that the new father cannot name the son after him"

An adoptive child is not considered maharim, or a member of the adoptive family. While the role of an adoptive parent is honored, (Muhammad himself adopted a child, Zayd ibn Harithah), the child is always seen as a member of the biological father's family, should that family be known. Which is the case with Barack Obama, Sr. and his family. It's more of a foster-child thing than an adoptive child as per Western definitions.

Therefore, under Islamic law and practices, even if an adoption took place, (and remember, there's never been any evidence of such), Obama would have never took on the last name of Soetoro.

Reading and making sense based on rational thinking and evidence isn't THEIR strong point - because the "Wash Time" article they post a Scribd link to is a paid advertisement by birther lawyer Mario Apuzzo, and not a Washington Times article.

Reading comprehension - fail.

But it doesn't stop the AXJ sockpuppets from whacking themselves raw over this.

Oh, and BTW, I'm not a liberal.

I'm a moderate. A gun-owning, 2nd amendment supporting moderate.

Where the Tea Parties get it wrong - and right

Recently I had a (largely civil) discussion with a couple of people in the "Tea Party" movement.

It was very intersting in places. Some of the things mentioned I agreed with, others I disagreed with. In some cases they didn't know some of the backstory involved, (example: they had thought the "tea bag" phrase was a liberal insult and didn't realize until I showed them proof, that it had dated back to the start of that movement BY certain of it's founders.)

What struck me though was their insistence that it was a movement open to everyone and that it didn't have an ideological drive to it, but was a mix of Democrats and Republicans, Liberals, Progessives, Libertarians, and Conservatives).

It's an interesting belief, but not one supported by the evidence. For example, let's look at the groups that organized the 9/12 tea party in DC.

FreedomWorks (ran by Republican Dick Armey)
Americans for Tax Reform (ran by Neo-Conservative Grover Norquist)
National Taxpayers Union (Taxpayers advocacy group, founded by James Dale Davidson. Grover Norquist served as executive director, and the current one is Republican George Snyder.)
The Heartland Institute (Libertarian / Conservative thinktank)
ResistNet (Social network of Grassfire.org, which claims to be "one of the nation’s fastest growing conservative online action networks", and which defines itself specifically as anti-Obama)
Tea Party Patriots (Which is grassroots independent, however it's founder jumped ship and now works for the "Tea Party Express", which is funded by the Conservative Our Country Deserves Better PAC)

Then there is the signs at the protests. Not to mention the hatred shown a holocaust survivor who dared express displeasure at a sign equating Obama's health care plan to the Holocaust.

And Conservative businessman David Koch admitted that is was his "Americans for Prosperity" conservative advocacy group that helped fund the Tea Party movement.

"But it was the prominence of Koch, who praised the activists for fueling a “strong, principled, freedom movement,” which revealed the degree to which conservatives have dismissed the “astroturf” attacks that greeted the Tea Parties. The Friday and Saturday summit was the latest and largest attempt by one of the Washington-based groups shepherding the Tea Parties to proclaim themselves leaders of a political majority, and to turn the attention of newly discovered conservative activists to the 2010 elections."

While there may very well be Tea Parties that are open to all parties and political viewpoints, I can't help believe that, by and large, the movement is very strongly rooted in both far-right conservatism AND strong anti-Obama hatred. And I have to wonder strongly where many of these "Tea Party Patriots" were when George W Bush was spending taxpayer money like a drunken sailor, ballooning the debt, inflating the size of government, and planting big sloppy kisses on members of the House of Saud. Instead they uniformly cast this as a problem caused by Obama, his "socialistic attitude" and "tax and spend liberals"

But here's the kicker:

By and large, the underlying distress that the people at the Tea Parties show is quite real.

In the last 30 years we've seen the middle class in this country being eroded. We've seen "trade agreements" resulting in jobs sent overseas, the systematic trashing of our manufacturing ability, collapsing infrastructure and runaway debt. I earn more than my father made, and yet my earning and spending power is far, far less than it's ever been. We've seen this nation go from being the world's largest lender nation to the world's largest debtor nation.

This is something that effects all Americans, Liberal, Progressive, Conservative, Republican, Democrat, Moderate, etc. And it is something that neither the Democratic Party or the Republican Party have clean hands on. There's quite enough blame to go around.

And if someone could actually cast this as an issue that effects all Americans of all political stripes, if they could cast this not in terms of liberal v conservative or democrat v republican, but AMERICANS as a whole being hurt badly by this erosion, then they would be a force that the entire government - and the economy as a whole - would be changed by. But it would take someone recognizing that all Americans, no matter what their political leanings are, are Americans first and foremost and that all of us would need to buy into this idea to make it work.

And as long as the Tea Parties remain co-opted by the far-right and the Obama haters, and as long as they're seen as an extension of the far-right, they're not going to get that buy-in from the vast majority of the American people.

From Birtherstan, more flogging of dead equines. Kreep seems to be able to do an appeal right, the religious right is doing a "wink wink nudge nudge know what I mean huh huh?" in relation to Obama and a certain Bible verse. Zampolit Charlton wants millions of birthers to take over the US Capitol, and Charles E. Lincoln III claims in a court filing that him and Dr. Orly were going at it like a pair of lust-crazed ferrets. Mr. Manning gets a visit from the Secret Service and is now claiming he'll be arrested any day now. And Wesley Pruden Jr. of the Washington Times shows that the dreams from his father involve white sheets and a lily-white "American" mainstream.

I do want to make something perfectly clear though. I don't care if CLE3 and Dr. Orly were fornicating like dogs in heat. The claims they had an affair are NOT from reliable sources, and for all we know CEL3 is laying down Yet Another Line of bullshit.

Which doesn't mean I won't make fun of them though.

11 November - Oh look, it's the cowardly "hatriot" with the silly skull mask again, preaching rebellion and treason.

What are they scared of?

Unlike the birther myth that those of us debunking their claims are paid operatives, I've got a job and a life outside of this. And sometimes the demands of that job and that life have to take priority.

In the meantime, I have a question to ask.

The wingbat right is having collective kittens over the plan to try some of the people responsible for planning the 9/11 attacks in a New York courtroom, preferring those people be tried by a military court. That these people don't deserve Constitutional protections.

Isn't this the same crowd that claims to be "defending the Constitution" when they protest against anything President Obama does?? Do they think the Constitution is so weak that having a big bad terrorist tried under its protections will somehow make things worse??

Trying those terrorists in a civilian court does nothing except show the world the strength of the US Constitution. That we are a nation of laws and that we will hold those responsible for acts of terror within the United States will be held accountable by those laws.

No matter how horrible the acts are.

Cry Idiot, and Let Loose the Birthers of Treason - Birther Update

A Dr. Orly rich update from Birtherstan, with Dr. Orly posting letters from people calling for citizens arrest against Obama. Which just starts out the fail train with her as she has a protest at Fox "News" with tens of people showing up. (seriously, I've seen bigger movements after a bean burrito). James Manning seems to be trying to angle his way into the ranks of the Birther Mullahs, and Larry Sinclair and Lucas Smith's claims keep getting airplay.

The granddaddy of all birther cases. Phillip Berg's Berg v Obama, gets dismissed from Appeals Court as well. Dr. Orly is playing pretend delegate at the We The People Tax Cheat "Continental Congress" and states she has no intention of paying Judge Land's sanction. Judge Land shows his annoyance and directs the US attorney's office to begin collection proceedings. And CEL3 drops some hints about why him and Dr. Orly are splitsville - and perhaps a bit about their non-professional relationship as well.

10 November - It shouldn't be a surprise that Dr. Orly is now nudging her Cavity Creeps to take the law into their own hands, as evidenced by this letter she posted (malware warning)

"I am no longer content in waiting for something to be done, because the way it looks to me, after all those efforts, the Government still continues to ignore us, and what we want, and do their own thing.

So what I would like to do is, something completely legal according to the Declaration of Independence.

Walk to the White House gates in person, and make a citizens arrest of president barack obama, put him in handcuffs, read him his rights, and take him to jail."

You go ahead and do just that. And after the friendly Secret Service agent kneeling on your back explains your mistake to you. then you can tell the friendly Law Enforcement personnel and the friendly judge all about your legal theory while you enjoy your taxpayer-paid for room and board.

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals has made a ruling on Philip Berg's appeal of the granddaddy birther case, Berg v Obama.

Appeal denied.

In Birtherstan, no one can hear you think - Birther Update

A congresscritter running for Governor appeals to the mouthbreather birther base, Dr. Orly has malware again and lies though her teeth in a possible court posting. Many of the birthers use what happened at Fort Hood as an excuse to let their racist freak-flags fly. Several are hitting up the Birtherstani faithful for money, open racists run wild on many birther blogs, Dr. Orly picks up a defender who may be an even more egotistical media whore than she is, and zebra fetishist Lynn Dartez goes all UFO conspiracy on us. And Dr. Orly stoops to a new record low and shows herself to be the egotistical racist bitch we always thought she was. Not to mention picks up a speeding ticket as well.

5 November - Congressman Nathan Deal (R - 9th congressional district of Georgia) seems to be running for Governor of Birtherstan

Why this sudden doubt, well:

Let's just get an answer, that's all we're saying, not suggesting anything to the contrary."

How many freaking answers do you need??

BTW, it's interesting to note that Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics considers Nathan Deal to be the 4th most corrupt Congressman in the house right now.

Nathan Deal seems to have some issues, as marked by this comment:

"On Saturday morning, before a breakfast gathering of the Cherokee County GOP, congressman and candidate for governor Nathan Deal was describing his role in legislation to demand proof of citizenship for federal or state health care benefits.

My mother was born in 1906 and she didn’t have a birth certificate. They didn’t give birth certificates back then.
