A couple "better late then never" updates from PolitiFact. Dr. Orly is spinning tales of look-alikes and evil twins. We have comments about the political usefulness of birtherstanis, Dr. Orly's followers ignore who shared the Dental Chair o' Luv with her. In a circular firing squad of stupidity, World Nut Daily cites the Pest and eFail. Dr. Orly starts hitting up her remaining followers for $20,000 worth of stupid. CNN points out that claims of Presidential Ineligibility isn't anything new. The media picks up on Dr. Orly's lien. Allan West flirts with the birtherstani. Joseph Farah writes a shrill and dishonest article - again. Dr. Orly takes a big hit off the nitrous tube of conspiracy and rides the pink unicorn into wingbattia. Chris Strunk whines in court that the evidence doesn't support his beliefs, therefore the evidence is wrong. An interesting - and disturbing article on the less savoury tactics in modern conservatism. And the OC Weekly reports on Dr. Orly fishing for donations.

28 June - Missed a couple updates from PolitiFact. Like this one on the Pakistan trip myth.

"Obama has said he traveled to Pakistan in 1981. He was on summer vacation from college, and, after visiting his mother in Indonesia, he traveled to Pakistan with a college friend. However, according to the U.S. Department of State, the department in charge of issuing travel bans, Pakistan had a green light for adventurous U.S. citzens.

"According to our Pakistan experts," said Ivna Giauque, a public affairs officer at the State Department, "there was no travel ban to Pakistan in 1981."

Without the original premise that Pakistan had a travel ban, the rest of the argument deteriorates. The author of the e-mail may have been confusing a travel warning or travel advisory with a travel ban. The University of Illinois at Chicago Library has an archive of State Department documents, including one from Aug. 17, 1981, issuing a travel advisory for Pakistan. It is the oldest travel advisory document in the archive related to Pakistan.

Even if Obama traveled after the advisory was issued instead of earlier in the summer, the State Department confirmed it wasn't illegal. Our good friends at Snopes and Factcheck.org found a travel article about visiting Pakistan published in the New York Times in June 1981, and it mentions nothing about such travel being illegal. An August 1981 letter to the editor in the New York Times by the U.S. Consul General in Lahore, Pakistan, encouraged people to come visit. We also found an ad in the New York Times from March which listed Karachi and Lahore as two destinations in their travel package.

In 1981, travel to Pakistan was not illegal or prohibited. Somebody was just looking for an excuse to promote the birther conspiracy, so we rate it Pants On Fire."

30 July - And PolitiFact covers a few more birtherstani myths.

"An alleged AP article asserts that the Justice Antonin Scalia agreed that the Supreme Court would hear a case challenging Obama"s eligibility to be president. In reality, the article is fake, and the court did not agree to hear the case.

In the same "article" is a claim that that Obama was an Indonesian citizen and attended Occidental College as an undergraduate on a Fulbright scholarship. The falsehoods in that claim led us to consider actually dousing a pair of pants in gasoline and lighting them on fire in the Politifact office.

The last of our claims was the most interesting because it seemed theoretically possible. The e-mail argued that since Obama traveled to Pakistan in 1981, and Pakistan was on the U.S. State Department's "no travel list” in 1981, Obama must not have traveled to Pakistan as a U.S. citizen. We knew it was true that Obama traveled to Pakistan in 1981, so we checked to see if the rest of the claims were. Nope. It was perfectly legal to travel to Pakistan as a U.S. citizen in 1981.

While we are fully aware that our investigations will not end the birther fantasy, we can still try."

30 July - The OC Register covers Dr. Orly's tilting at pinwheels.

"Taitz then turned her attention to a $20,000 sanction for misconduct she was given in October by Georgia Judge Clay D. Land in another Obama case and still hasn't paid. On July 7, she asked Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to stay the fine.

"Allowing sanctions by Judge Land to stand will signify beginning of tyranny in the United States," she wrote in her lengthy brief. She also has an offer on her website – "World's Leading Obama Eligibility Challenge Web Site" – to send you a bound, autographed copy of the brief for $100.

Thomas dismissed the request on July 15, but Taitz immediately questioned why his dismissal, posted on the Supreme Court website, didn't carry his signature, and asked the court the verify that Thomas did indeed reject her request.

On July 27, Taitz complained on her website that she had resubmitted her request to stay the fine to Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito but that clerks had not docketed it. She asks her supporters to call the Supreme Court on her behalf. Perhaps it's a slow time of the season for them as well."

9 August - The Ledger-Enquirer reports on the court lien against Dr. Orly.

"A legal document filed Monday in the $20,000 sanctions case against “birther” attorney Orly Taitz creates a lien on all her real property, the notice states.

The notice, titled “Abstract of Judgment,” is the first step the government has taken to collect the $20,000 plus interest in sanctions U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land imposed on Taitz in October, said Columbus attorney Frank Martin.

“This is a notice that the federal government has put a $20,000 lien plus interest on Orly Taitz,” Martin added. “This lien trumps the Internal Revenue Code. This lien has priority over everything else.”

The Abstract of Judgment creates a court record, which means the government has a basis to move forward with collecting the sanctions. That could mean the government can force the sale of Taitz’s property or potentially seize her property, Martin said.

“She may can drag it out,” Martin cautioned."

Somehow I didn't think that playing Little League Baseball was supposed to a requirement to be President. And what the hell is "American DNA" ???

Oh, and Allen West has his own....history. He retired from the Army as a Lt. Col. after an incident with an Iraqi policeman that he "interrogated" with a 9mm pistol. He was relieved of command, and was given an administrative Article 32 hearing that resulted in his being fined $5,000 for misconduct and assault. According to Fox News:

10 August - Speaking of verbal diarrhea, we have Chris Strunk's "PLAINTIFF DECLARATION IN OPPOSITION TO DEFENDANT’S MOTION FOR SUMMARY JUDGMENT TO DISMISS" It's 113 pages, of which 29 is the actual declaration, 5 is a affidavit from one Phillip Hans Jacobsen about his getting his mother's passport data, and the rest is repeats.

10 August - An interesting article in "Veterans Today" on "The Transformation of the American Conservative Movement into Fascism"

"But while the MSM isn't watching, the Orange County dentist says she is on the verge of winning with federal prosecutors (but not Attorney General Eric Holder because he's part of Obama's plot). She says they will "convict [Obama] for this massive fraud perpetrated on the whole nation."

There is a slight problem, however.

She says she needs $20,000 immediately to pay for her ability to keep the Obama conspiracy in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.

"I need your help," Taitz wrote in an email to supporters this morning.

Act now because she says Obama is trying "to silence" her.

Conveniently, her website accepts credit cards

"Your donations to the cause are much appreciated," wrote the unsuccessful 2010 Republican Party primary candidate for California secretary of state."

BTW, despite what her site says, donations to her foundation are NOT tax deductible because it has never received 501 c approval by the IRS.

Yes. In the context of litigation, spoliation is the act of destroying relevant documentation or evidence prior to discovery. Spoliating evidence can result in a negative inference being made as to the content of the destroyed materials.

Yes "spoliation" is a word. It's a legal term, referring to evidence that has been destroyed in some manner.

Wow Patrick, you outdid yourself today with all the nutcase happenings.

Meanwhile, Lucas Smith is currently whining on his little YouTube corner of the world, about someone named Sean Boyer, who is or was his "agent," because Sean claims to see Jesus.

Considering that Lucas tried to sell his house by claiming the Virgin Mary visited, talked to him through a Metronoma machine, etc., Sean's claims (according to Lucas) sound somewhat reasonable...at least to insane nutcases.
