In today's dispatches, looks like Dr. Orly gets tagged with the "Mein Kampf" quote as well. "One Pissed Off Vietnam Vet" continues his rants against Muslims, the English, Police, and anyone else he doesn't like.

Dr. Kate has a brand new idea idea to get Obama out of office, which means it's more stale rehashed birther failure. JB Williams doesn't like the fact that most of the declared GOP candidates aren't crazy enough to go full metal birther. Dean Haskins comes back, and he's got a video!

The Congressional Research Service produces a second memo on Obama's citizenship and state of birth, provoking the usual birther allergic reaction to facts and reality. Seditionist Sharon Rondeau gets threatening emails. (Welcome to my life Sharon). Lawrence Sellin seems to be thinking that the Glorious BIrtherstani Peoples Revolution is Any Day Now.

Sher Zieve is off on a paranoid tear. And Lame Cherry shows their misunderstanding of linguistics as well as anything else.

Dispatches from Birtherstan - 27 May 2011

In today's dispatches, multidimensional reality expert Douglas Vogt repurposes old tired COLB complaints and aims them at the long form. Tribble mobility scooter Donald Trump gets thanked....but not in a way he might like. World Nut Daily comes up with a new way to harvest cash from birther wallets.

Professional seditionist Sharon Rondeau gets a flowery complement from a reader, though it may have sounded different in the original German. Lawrence O'Donnell gets asked why Dr. Orly was on his show.

The birthers want to arrest Dr. Onaka for the crime of certifying Obama's long form. Trump starts to get a look at the undercarriage of the birther bus. Dr. Orly's origins are questioned. And it's a help to the FBI when the birthers bring themselves to the FBI's attention.

22 May - Douglas Vogt takes a break from multidimensional reality to offer more of his "expert analysis" of the long form.

Vogt seems to have become the Polarik or TechDude of the long form, with examples like:

"What President Obama presented is not the hospital birth certificate. The birth certificate would have the imprint of the baby’s footprint, weight, length and other information. Some even have religion. The Birth Certificate would be the source of the same information that would be typed onto the Certificate of Live Birth (the Long Form, COLB). What President Obama released is supposedly the Long Form that the County gets from the hospital, which is typed on a blank form given to the hospitals by the county. That copy is then mailed to the county Board of Health and kept as a legal government document."

Gee, this looks rather.....familiar. I'm all for recycling, but he's now trying to reuse the same arguments that they used against the COLB!!

"One of the reasons I mentioned the Federal law is because when President Obama gave his news conference, presenting his alleged Certificate of Live Birth, he stated that they had to get special permission to get a copy of his Certificate. His statement appears to be blatantly wrong because these are public documents and he could have requested a copy himself at any time as well as his Secretary of Health and Human Services could have audited the County’s records and get a copy any time they wanted."

No, he had to get special permission to get a certified copy of the long form because the State of Hawaii doesn't GIVE those out anymore, just the COLB!

Dispatches from Birtherstan - 26 May 2011

Today's dispatches have World Nut Daily claiming that Donald Trump is still on the birtherstan express. Trump seems to have some problems with that claim.

The "patriots" at the Pest and eFail are responding to that blog's overt call for a military coup with great enthusiasm. And Dr. Kate shows as much skill with history as she shows with everything else.

It's been slightly over a month since the long form has been released. As expected, the birtherstani have settled down to a comfortable myth to explain it away. Most simply (and expectedly) dismiss it as a forgery based on the claims of a flotilla of questionable internet "experts". Others have simply gone de Vattelist. Some have become somewhat more openly racist, while others have amplified their calls for rebellion and military coups. I guess to these "constitutionalists", promoting actions that go directly AGAINST the Constitution is better than their having to deal with a scary black man in the White House.

But then again, reality has never been a birther's stock in trade.

25 May - Count tribble mobility scooter Donald Trump among those who think the long form is forged, at least according to World Nut Daily.

"Billionaire businessman Donald Trump, who staged a weeks-long public campaign questioning Barack Obama's eligibility to be president during March and April – and rose to the top of the pool of potential candidates for the 2012 GOP nomination then as a result – says he believes the "birth certificate" released by the White House is forged.

His comments came yesterday in a telephone call to WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi, Ph.D."

O RLY. Didn't Corsi recently claim Trump was working with Obama??

Dispatches from Birtherstan - 25 May 2011

In today's dispatches, the facts are never a birthers friend, but you think that some basic fact check about their own cases might be of benefit. The Pima County Sheriff's has a familar name as their guest. Leo Donofrio speaks, while the birthers continue to rave about Jerome Corsi's book o' lies.

The Pest and eFail is all moist over Dr. Orly's "subpoena". "One Pissed-Off Vietnam Vet" continues to be cranky, while the Pest and eFail actually publishes an article from "Jack the Marine" that doesn't tap dance around the issue or play coy flirty games, no, it actually calls for a military coup in just those exact words.

Donofrio and Pidegon need to break out the checkbook. And MissTickly breaks her silence to go off into conspiracyland and it's trained seals of both kinds.

11 May - The American Independent Party news has a rather interestingly fact-free article up by one Charles Fettinger of the Doo Doo Economics Blog.

"The first damning fact was his failure to disclose simple documents like birth certificates, school records and the like prior to the election."

He did, next?

"Next, his campaign and media allies manufactured an atmosphere of ridicule around all who questioned him"

Oh, it wasn't his campaign and media allies who made you people look like fools...

"Third, he was served in the Drake / Keyes v. Obama suit four times, but delayed response until he was sworn in"

There's a problem here. Drake/Barnett/Keyes v Obama was filed 20 January 2009, the day Obama was sworn in. In addition, it was filed AFTER he was sworn in. Fettinger is either confusing dates and cases, or making crap up.

"and then responded by assigning the U.S. Justice Department in an attempt to intimidate"

Funny, when you file a lawsuit against the President of the United States, the Justice Department tends to show up.

"The Obama administration had no counter precedent and could only rely on the fact that the suit was not answered prior to the inauguration."

Hard to answer a suit prior to the inauguration when it isn't filed until AFTER the inauguration.

"In fact, Obama lost this case by default and the only remaining option was to manufacture a precedent that fit the facts of the case to be used upon appeal."

Is he confusing this with Berg's claim that Obama didn't answer within 30 days and therefore he won via default, Dr. Orly's various default claims, or simple pig ignorance on how the law works?

Today's dispatches has me on antibiotics to cure my tonsils and my ears (my eardrums were actually blistered from the pressure - ugh)

As for bitrtherstan, we have the CAAFlog commentary on Lakin's release. Dr. Kate seems to be swimming the waters of conspiracy. Actually, she's pretty much living there by now. Dr. Orly fails to make proper service (again), and then claims victory. Canada Free Press and Sam Sewell are on a rebellion trend of late.

Swiftboat liar Jerome Corsi is making more and more stuff up in an attempt to get people to buy his book. Meanwhile the guy who runs Free Republic says Corsi's reputation is now zilch. Which doesn't stop the birthers from holding up Corsi's book and going "any day now.....any day now......any day now...."

The Pest and eFail continues it's proud tradition of whiney letters. Meanwhile they also interview Walter Fitzpatrick, who is as delusional has ever. Carl Swensson is checking his family tree and thinking of running for President. And Dr. Orly gets told "no" by the State of Hawaii. She doesn't handle it well.

15 May - The military law blog CAAFlog reports on Lakin's release.

"In the Terry Lakin Action Fund Radio Hour interview, LTC Lakin indicates he’s considering waiving his appeal. (I understand that his appeal has already been docketed with ACCA, so he would actually have to withdraw his appeal.) He says the military appellate process takes 6 to 18 months (which is actually a conservative estimate). He indicates he’s considering the pros and cons of waiving his appeal, getting his DD-214, and moving on:

Right now, I’m on appellate leave, which means I’m still on active duty but not receiving pay and just no, no duties other than preparing for possible appeals. And the appellate process can take up to, you know, 6 months to 18 months. The other option would be to waive the appeal process and receive my DD 214, or discharge papers, and I would be separated immediately from the military and go on with my life with no other ties with the military.

In the KMBC interview, when asked about President Obama’s release of an additional birth record on 27 April 2011, LTC Lakin responds, “Had that been done sooner, I wouldn’t have – this whole ordeal would not have happened for me.” Yet he declares himself “at peace with what I did.” He adds, “I don’t know what else I could have done differently.” Hhhmmm, I can think of something."

Hello!

I'm fighting a case of tonsillitis that's spread into my ears right now. I have an attention span roughly equal to a flashbulb's, and no patience to wade though birtherstan right now.

In the meantime, might I recommend someplace more important than birtherstan? There are people in Missouri and Oklahoma (not to mention along the Mississippi River) who could use all the help they can get.

In today's dispatches, the Poodle-Brained Therese Daniels is off her meds again. The birthers try to call out Michelle Bachmann. DSV World Nut Daily continues it's Voyage to the Bottom of the Sewer. Devvy Kidd thinks that doing the same things that have failed the birthers in the past will reap some results.

The Obama 2012 campaign has a new treat for donors, and the birthers are hopping mad about it. Esquire shows the birthers what a sense of humour looks like. The birthers reply with a complete and total failure to understand. And the Pest and eFail continues their long-standing tradition of publishing whiney, tantrum-filled letters.

17 May - Ah, hell hath no fury than a disgruntled birther.

Dispatches from Birtherstan - 17 May 2011

In today's dispatches, it looks like "harassing the family of a dead infant" in the order of the day in Birtherstan. CEL3 is whining that people are pointing out the truth about him. The Pest and eFail talks to Susan Daniels, who's upset over the fact she didn't get the answer from the Selective Service Administration she wanted.

William Lolli uses the Pest and eFail to dare suggest the radical notion that Muslims may not be so bad after all, which threatens his membership in the birther kool kids klub. Dr. Kate freaks out about the Illuminati.

I get the feeling "One Pissed-off Vietnam Vet" not only wants Obama in shackles, but singing hymns while picking cotton. And Jerome Corsi's book finally comes out, with World Nut Daily trying to pimp it, most media going "meh", and Media Matters pointing out Corsi's racist little helpers.

15 May - Yep. The birthers are going for the "certificate number taken from a dead infant" ploy. "Ladysforest" seems to be one of the sources of this, though she had help.

"The Post & Email did publish the companion article with my consent – The P&E was the third partner in the trip last July. "

O RLY??

"The Interrogator suggested that the article be released, and Sharon and I agreed, due to the leaks over the past month from the very few people with knowledge of our work, who had agreed to keep the information confidential. We agreed it would be best to have the simple truth be told."

By "simple truth" she means "crap we made up to try and smear Obama"

"You don’t jump the gun and release your plan of action because it is a delicate situation. A family tragedy is involved, albeit nearly fifty years ago. You don’t run your mouth when you are trying every legal and morally correct avenue to obtain information that is potentially very well guarded."

So knowing the birthers, they're trying to justify harassment of dead child's family.

Dispatches from Birtherstan - 14-16 May 2011

Before I go into today's dispatches, I'd like to touch on something someone said at the Fogbow.

The suggestion was made that one of the reasons for the blind hatred many birthers have for Obama is because they see it as personal.

Now part of this may be projection. They personally hate Obama with the heat of a thousand white hot suns. They wish something bad to happen to Obama. Therefore they believe Obama hates THEM personally, that Obama wants something bad to happen to them personally.

Now while Barack Obama has better things to do - like being leader of the free world and President of the United States, in their minds every single negative thing they believe he's doing is directed at they themselves. To the 9/11 truther, mail-order lawyer/dentist, part-time harpist, unemployed hydrologist, poodle-fetishist, disgraced ex-Navy officer, con-artist, former burglar with a self-granted divinity doctorate, bigfoot researcher, and the mixed bag of disgruntled ex-PUMAs, far-right nutjobs, conspiracy kooks, and just plain racists, they see Obama's actions as a direct personally attack.

That's one reason why they dismiss the long form not just as a forgery, but a particularly inept and clumsy forgery. Nevermind that the CIA - much less the "conspiracy" like the New World Order they claim Obama is part of - could have come up with a far better and more believable "forgery" if one was called for.

Partly because their attempts to puff themselves up means belittling anything Obama does (which feeds into their ability to see him as an evil mastermind AND complete incompetent at the very same time). But mostly because in believing it as a forgery, they can justify the giant raised middle finger they see Obama flashing at them and only them.

As I said, it's a form of projection. Since their hatred and anger is personal, they have to believe the President hates them back just as much, is just as angry with them.

And personally, I think he's got better things to do with his time than worry about what some enraged birther's feelings are.

Anyway, today's update includes some news about Charles Dyer. Tracy, aka "KenyanBornObamaAcorn" has branched out from spewing lies in comments sections to spewing lies on YouTube. She's starting to occupy the same ecological niche in the birther biosphere that Linda Starr once occupied.

We have a two-fer of crazy, as Holy Cao tells us who her NEW, non-court appointed attorney is - if said attorney can get Pro Hac Vice status. And not to be outdone, James Manning has a telephone bromance with Walter Fitzpatrick.

Birthers continue to fall for the San Diego Reader parody article, while a local news station calls them out on it. Terry Lakin comes home to an airport filled with tens of supporters.

The Pest and eFail reminds their readers that sedition starts at the local level, though they're not adverse to a violent overthrow happening on the national level either. Dr. Orly complains that some debunking attorneys have a better knowledge of the law than she does. Which isn't true, because almost anyone has a better knowledge of the law than Dr. Orly. And Donald Trump decides that being a tribble mobility scooter is a higher calling than being President.

Dispatches from Birtherstan - 13 May 2011

Today's dispatches include some thoughts as to why the birthers can't seem to handle things like reality. Media Matters comments on World Nut Daily and their attempt to keep Swiftboat liar Jerome Corsi's book out of the remainder bin. We have thoughts on birtherism as a faith.

The Pest and eFail goes into conspiracyland again, and continues their tradition of whiney demanding letters. Some observations about now ex-inmate Lakin. "The 4th Awakening" comes up with several excursions into wingnuttia. The Pest and eFail explores record new lows in human decency.

But the most fun comes from a parody article in the San Diego Reader about students proving the long form is a forgery. Despite the other parody articles under the same byline - and a complete lack of facts to support the article, the Pest and eFail, Dr. Orly, Pam Barnett, Gateway Pundit, a lot of freepers, Lucianne, SqueekyFromm, and several conspiracy sites all wet themselves with glee over the news. Complete with epic spinning once it starts to dawn on them it might just be a joke........

9 May - Leonard Pitts offers his thoughts as to one of the reasons why birthers can't seem to accept reality.

"Thing is, bigots do not usually stand up and say, “I am a bigot.” They hide this from themselves, at least as much as they hide this from you or me. Indeed, Mel Gibson, last heard telling his girlfriend she would be raped by a pack of effing N-words, just said in an interview that he is not a racist.

In assessing bigotry, then, one learns to judge actions over words. And the actions of many Americans have screamed their discomfort with the idea that a black man is now the man. A computer abstract of his birth certificate, a perfectly ordinary document that satisfies passport requirements of the U.S. State Department does not satisfy Donald Trump? Give me a break.

Some have suggested that Obama’s opponents — like George W. Bush’s — are simply out to delegitimize his presidency. Wrong. They are actually out to delegitimize him.

I mean, we just saw the president of the United States required to show his papers, like some brother caught driving too nice a car in too nice a neighborhood after dark.

Presidenting while black, I suppose.

Nor does even that suffice to prove his bona fides, as diehards now challenge the validity of the new document and Trump turns his attention to supposed irregularities in Obama’s academic transcripts.

It never stops."

What's interesting is watching the comments prove the point.
