Dispatches from Birtherstan - for 9 June 2011

In today's dispatches, Dr. Orly makes a Times Magazine list. Dean Haskins and James Manning continues the "long form is phony this I know, for Douglas Vogt he told me so" song. The Pest and eFail sees one of their whiney letters published.

Dr. Orly gets a motion to intervene that's even more daft than Dr. Orly is. Molotov Mitchell does a "birthers 101" video that seems to spin the idea that World Nut Daily has always been 100% behind the birthers and that there wouldn't even be a birthers movement without Joseph Farah and his pornstar mustache.

Meanwhile World Nut Daily continues to try and profit off the birtherstani, Neil Turner shows his lack of knowledge about the Constitution. Again. And we have a Christa Chantal Allen sighting!

6 June - Time Magazine does a list of "Blogs We Could Do Without". And Dr. Orly's House of Malware makes the list

"Lawyer, dentist and ardent conspiracy theorist Orly Taitz is also a prolific blogger. She bills her site as the "world's leading Obama eligibility challenge website," TALKS IN CAPITAL LETTERS, dumps scans of documents into her posts without explanation and seeks donations via PayPal. And it may not stun you to learn that she's absolutely positive that the President's recently released birth certificate is a crude forgery."

7 June - Dean Haskins continues his "OMG the long form is fake and I witnessed a felony" kick.

"So, what are we to do? Are we simply to give in to this corrupt political machine that appears to be outside our ability to hold accountable? Certainly not! We, as a country, cannot afford to take the milquetoast approach that many “moderates” suggest—that we simply need to defeat Obama at the polls. And, there are two predominant reasons why we cannot do that"

"First, if Barack Obama is allowed to run in 2012, it is very possible he could win, and we cannot take that chance."

"Help!! The uppity darkie might win a second term unless we FORCE him off the ballot!!"

You know, this underscores not just the utter contempt for democracy that many of the birthers have, but also that they know damn well that the majority of Americans aren't on-board with their little conspiracy choo-choo. They know that right now there's a good chance Obama might win a second term, and since they can't stand the idea he's President NOW, the idea of a second term is simply one they can't stomach. Never mind democracy, laws, the Constitution, or what the majority of their fellow citizens want, to them it's the very real threat they feel by the idea that Obama might win a second term.

"And, second, apart from his being removed from office because of his ineligibility, everything he has done to destroy our country will stand—and his “presidency” will serve as precedent for any future non-natural born Citizen to thwart the Constitution and usurp the office."

In other words, they're worried it might underscore that their de Vattelist theory isn't backed up by reality.

Funny, the people doing the wholesale Orwellian rewriting of US history are the birthers.

Haskins has been hanging around that board of late, posting under the name "vattel". What's been interesting is his complete and utter inability to defend his position, his strawman arguments, and his complete avoidance of difficult or uncomfortable positions. Oh, and his tendency to engage in personal attacks when flustered or embarassed.

Did you type it on long thin paper, so they could get some practical use out of it??

"Following this letter, I will provide you a detailed analysis that proves, irrefutably, that what Barack Obama released was, indeed, a forged computer-generated image, which makes the release of the image a felony (forgery of a government document used for identification is a felony).

Because of Title 18 U.S.C. Chapter 1, § 4, I believe I have no other choice but to report this fraudulent activity, and because of the duties incumbent upon your position, I believe you have little choice but to personally investigate this crime, or refer the crime to a superior for its investigation. "

So what's the proof you offer??

"If you would like a corroborating source of evidence, I urge you to read the book Where’s the Birth Certificate? by Jerome Corsi, Ph.D. "

One of the questions Haskins avoided was why should the analysis of someone who writes about the healing properties of pyramid power, the wave forms in the original Hebrew alphabet, the truth of mystery spots, and "multi dimensional reality", be given any credibility at all.

I suspect he can't answer it.

I wonder if Adobe knows about this, since they created the PDF standard in 1983 (It was Adobe co-founder John Warnock who came up with the idea) (PDF). It was only released as an open standard in 2008.

Oh, and PDF means "Portable Document Format", and not "Portable Electronic Document". Which means the birthers "great white hope" in PDF analysis doesn't even know what PDF stands for, or any any of it's history.

8 June - The Pest and eFail is thrilled that one of their whiney letters got published in the "Bakersfield Californian"

The letter was written by one "Joel Torczon". Curiously enough, the Pest and eFail doesn't mention Joel Torczon's past position as a copy editor for the Bakersfield Californian.....

So, someone who not only believes Hawaii isn't really a state, but believes in the sacred sperm of citizenship too.

No wonder the Judge denied it.

8 June - Molotov Mitchell of "IlluminatiTV" does an animated "Birthers 101" video.

The monotone voice is Mitchell's wife, DJ Dolce. And what's particularly impressive is not only does Mitchell buff his cartoon character out, but manages to brown nose his boss, Joseph Farah as well, calling him the "birther czar"

The history is rather slanted as well, claiming Swiftboat liar Jerome Corsi was the first to talk about the birther issue in 2008. Which is funny, since the earliest I can find any reference to Corsi in birtherstan is August 2008. And people like Pamela Geller, Larry Johnson, "Polarik", "TechDude", "TexasDarlin", Andy Martin, and others were already hard at work there.

Then they mention Molotov Mitchell's video interview with Philip Berg......in October of 2008. Two MONTHS after he filed his first lawsuit.

They paint World Nut Daily as the original "Headquarters for the Birther Movement". The funny thing being that for a long time WND was dismissive of the "forgery" claims and other aspects of birtherism, and only really got into the game later on.

And THEN they skip to Donald Trump at 1:26, neatly ignoring almost three years of failed lawsuits and "any day now" moments.

I was expecting DJ Dolce to say at any minute "we're at war with eastasia. We've always been at war with eastasia"

8 June - ConWebWatch reports on World Nut Daily's attempts to part the birthers from their disposable income.

The funny thing about their latest push towards de Vattelism? Not all of World Nut Daily's allies are agreeing with them.

"Despite the fact that no court has ever definitively weighed in on the issue, Corsi's book pushes the strictest definition possible of "natural born citizen" -- that both parents must be citizens in order to confer "natural born" citizenship on a child -- in order to devise a way to exclude Obama. WND has been pushing that same strict definition, deliberately ignoring contradictory evidence in the process.

But two of WND's closest allies don't buy that definition, as WND itself conceded. From a May 22 article by Joe Kovacs:

"There's nothing that I'm aware of that says you have to have two American parents," said Gary Kreep, executive director of the United States Justice Foundation. "My understanding of it is if you're born in the United States, you're a natural-born citizen, period."

Floyd Brown, head of the Western Center for Journalism who has actively sought the impeachment of Obama, told WND that he, too, considers someone born "on the soil" a natural-born citizen.

WND has hired the USJF to represent it in various legal actions over the years. WND editor Joseph Farah co-founded of the organization Brown now heads, and WND and the WJC cooperated on a falsehood-ridden book agitating for Obama's impeachment."

Which ConWebWatch thinks may show why World Nut Daily is going double or nothing on the "fake long form claims"

"WorldNetDaily put up a video-only post on May 16, with the headline "Video 'proves' Obama birth certificate is fake; Simple examination of lettering leaves little doubt Barack's long-form fraudulent." The video was created by "ppsimmons," supposedly the nom de YouTube of "a highly successful and respected businessman in Birmingham, Alabama -- and also another man who is a youth minister in the gulf coast area" that features the narration of a pastor named Carl Gallups, who insists that he isn't "ppsimmons.""

However:

"This, however, is not the first time WND has promoted a "ppsimmons" video. Back in July 2009, Joe Kovacs devoted an entire article to a "ppsimmons" video strongly suggesting that President Obama is the Antichrist. But as blogger Richard Bartholomew documented (and as ConWebWatch noted as part of WND's obsession with portraying Obama as the Antichrist), the video's proof is based on a fallacious reinterpretation of Scripture.

If "ppsimmons" is changing Scripture to push a political agenda, it's more than likely that the "SMOKING GUN!" its video claims to provide isn't one."

9 June - Like a particularly slow parrot, Neil Turner continues to scream "treason" at the drop of a hat.

Apparently you did not understand the motions. The Court was asked to moot the Taitz filings because regardless of the legal fact Hawaii is not properly a state, his mother was undoubtedly an American citizen, and under the equal protection principles enunciated in Nguyen, women citizens can transmit US citizenship on no less favorable terms than American daddies can, so Obama is a citizen. What a difference a month brings. While many are still confidently predicting that Corsi's upcoming liber lutum will result in Obama fleeing this country, the remaining birtherstani (who seem to be dropping in numbers based on the polls), are either going de Vattel and demanding everyone else join them, trying to find some long-dead and disproven birther claim to rally behind again, or else are piling on the crazy even more.
