Dispatches from Birtherstan - 13-15 August 2011

In today's dispatches, Kevin Willmott has some fun with the sarcasm-lacking birtherstani. Zampolit Haskins continues to insult Colin Powell, while taking some time away from spamming debunkers to come up with Yet Another Idea That Will Fail.

Dr. Kate shows her lack of knowledge about history, while Tim Adams comes up with a Masters Thesis that may win a prize in the "fiction" category.

The big news in birtherstan is that of USAF SSgt Daryl Moran (Yes, that's his real name), currently stationed in Germany. Seems in March he had some sort of breakdown when he found out some of the people he worked with were Muslim. Ended up failing a psych evaluation board and was being processed for a discharge. Meanwhile, his downward spiral continued to the point he has now gone full metal birther and went AWOL from his duty station until they "arrest him or Obama".

Bets which one they chose?

11 August - Kevin Willmott has fun with the birthers.

"Earlier this year, Donald Trump announced that his investigators in Hawaii were turning up some "incredible stuff" about President Obama's birth certificate. Once the long form certificate was released, the story died down. Now, independent filmmaker Kevin Willmott has completed his own investigation into the Trump Investigation. What he learned is astounding…indeed, "incredible."

Brillant parody, and the Jerome Corsi look-alike is a nice touch. Birthers being humor-deficant though, I suspect they'll believe every word......

Yeah, that's a sure way to get Gen. Powell to agree. Offer him an insultingly low amount of money then make a tacky joke about his first name. That's on top of the "Benedict Arnold" reference in the original challenge.

I suspect we know why Haskins doesn't want to put the money he claims he has in an escrow account - because he knows damn well Gen. Powell isn't going to accept his "challenge" after the insult upon insult Haskins is heaping on him.

13 August - Dr. Kate doesn't seem to know much about history.

"The first ‘birthers’ of America were the Founders, who insisted that the President be either a natural born citizen or a citizen at the time of the adoption of the Constitution."

Yes, and your point?

Funny how neither the Constitution, US Law, and 200+ years of US case law and legal rulings fail to show this.

14 August - Birther Report has what may be the next military birther to get a Big Chicken Dinner for being a Blue Falcon. Namely Air Force SSgt Daryn Moran.

"My name is Daryn J. Moran. I am a SSgt in the USAF stationed in Germany.

I called Pastor Manning of the Manning Report just recently to share my concern for our country. Boils down that I have not gone in to work last Thurs. and Fri. First time I was AWOL in nearly 13 years. Until B. Obama provides a birth certificate which stands up to professional examination, not even mentioning the seriousness of the fact that his father was never an American, I no longer serve the Armed Forces or take orders."

Hear that sound. It's your career going down the crapper.

"Basically, I'd rather follow Mr. Lakin, the ex-Army officer who went to Ft. Leavenworth, into war against our real enemies."

Oooh, that sounds rather threaty.

I'm feeling very sorry for his family.

I do not support B. Obama in any way, shape or form. I was due to get out soon under an administrative and Honorable discharge for a “Personality Disorder”, because I told them homosexuality is sin. Sounds very….unstable.

It is also possible he's the "James Moran" mentioned in this 26 July World Nut Daily article.

"The staff sergeant, James Moran, told WND he now is awaiting word from a military medical board regarding his future.

He said an earlier evaluation found, "He was unable to keep his personal opinions out of the office."

Moran said he served four years in the Marines in the 1990s and then enlisted in the Air Force after 9/11 because he wanted to do his patriotic duty.

He had been in Germany only a few months when Congress voted to repeal the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy. He said he heard about the repeal and voiced his concerns about its potential impact.

"I voiced my concerns over the repeal to the people I work with," Moran said. "As a Christian I was raised in America, and there were some things I was raised to believe are wrong, and one of them was homosexuality."

So the way I see it, Moran had some breakdown in March that resulted in his being removed from his duty station. Attempts to counsel him resulted in the Air Force determining he's unfit for duty due to mental health issues. His behavior since then shows a declining level of stability, coupled with increased religious mania and increasing intolerance against Gays, Muslims, and anyone else he doesn't like.

The Air Force has been processing his discharge since May. If they feel he's mentally unstable, they might just decide he's not responsible for his actions and take no further actions other than discharging him. If they decide he's mentally stable enough to be responsible for his actions, they may decide to charge him with violations of the UCMJ and discharge him with a BCD.

I suspect that, since he's already showing a history of mental health issues according to the military, they may just let him go without any fuss or muss. The main problem I see with that is the birthers will see it as a victory and that "Obama didn't press charges because he doesn't want the TRUTH to be known".

I understand he might be mentally ill. But I also understand that the military needs to take appropriate action in this matter as well. Of course, his current "duty station" may be a separation unit while they process his paperwork, and that they don't care if he shows up or not at this stage.

15 August - While Zampolit Haskins spent most of this weekend spamming an increasingly juvenile level of insults at "Turning the Scales" and here at this blog as well, he did take the time to announce his latest promotional scheme. $5000 to the person in Honolulu that just might have a 50 year old news paper lying around.

"The Birther Summit issues an alert to the people of Honolulu, HI for someone who may very well be in possession of an original newspaper for which we will pay $5000! An original copy of the August 13, 1961 edition of The Honolulu Advertiser or the August 14, 1961 edition of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin will earn the first bearer $5000."

There may be a couple libraries with bound copies in archives, but the odds are pretty good he won't find a taker.

"Those are the editions of the newspapers in which the purported birth announcement of Barack Obama appeared, and while we understand that the announcement's inclusion in those newspapers would not be conclusive proof that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii (as there were circumstances that would have allowed for them to appear without a Hawaii birth actually occurring)"

So in other words, he could care less if someone finds any proof, because he already has explained it away.

By "suspicious anomalies" he means "Wahh, they don't say what we want them to say, wahhh!!"

Except for that whole "Verified by the State of Hawaii" thing.

Said inspection staff being Douglas Vogt, Paul Irey, Ron Polarik, and Skippy the Wonder Kangaroo, all ready and willing to claim the newspaper is a forgery and explain it away.

Which means he's expecting not to have to pay up. And on the off chance that they actually do have some take them up on the challenge, then they have "experts" ready and willing to dismiss it as a forgery.

15 August - And Moran gets interviewed at the Pest and eFail

O RLY??? So he was removed from his duty station and was spinning his heels waiting to be processed out then.

#3. Last Thursday was the first day in which I no longer reported for duty. However, there is some question as to whether the AF has even recognized it yet. I say that because I had access to both Ramstein and Landstuhl via my ID card at the gate on Saturday and Sunday. Lately, when at work, I’ve sat in an office with just one other NCO, and I’ve been accountable to the unit First Sergeant. Please do not think my situation is not serious. I’m still at home, still not at work, still unsure of the future

."

So the Air Force is aware of your mental issues then.

"4. Has any disciplinary action been taken against you at this time?

#4. No action that I’m aware of. Relating to the longer series of events, I received a Letter of Counseling in Mar/Apr of this year which was the Commander’s explanation of why I was removed from position in the Ophthalmology Clinic, office 11B, in Landstuhl. I’ve only been in Germany since October, 2010, and the troubles all began in December. More about this later."

Wonder what happened in December.

"#5. On two separate occassions I presented on base to turn in my ID card and explain that I didn’t want to be part of the military, and not follow further orders, due to my suspicion of B. Obama and all the evidence against him. I was told “You can’t do that” and sent to mental health, and then told that I was a high priority to be discharged. "

So what it sounds like is that the Air Force was quietly processing this Blue Falcon out of the military due to mental health reasons. Now that he's publicly opened his mouth, they may either speed up the process, or he might get a can of UCMJ opened up on his posterior.

15 August - Remember Tim Adams, the guy who worked as a temp worker for the elections board in Honolulu, and somehow turned that on a white supremacist show into being a "Senior Elections Clerk" who had access to birth records that election officials don't really have access to?

Well, he's turned that into a masters thesis.

No, I'm not kidding. It's 106 pages, complete with citation of his appearances in World Nut Daily, the Globe tabloid, Canada Free Press, and the white nationalist "Political Cesspool" radio show,

I didn't know his school offered graduate degrees in "Lying Bullshit". However, if that's his degree programme, I think he's got it made.

Anything that requires the truth or a basic grounding in reality, not so much. However, it might get him into Taft Skool o Law and Stuff.

Big Chicken Dinner - for Orly's Benefit - A Bad Conduct Discharge Court Marshal. This is one of the options just below a General Court Marshal. It can adjudge up to 6 months confinement (local) and a BAD CONDUCT DISCHARGE...second only to a Dishonorable Discharge.

I have seen it used for military specific crimes that DO qualify as felony in civilian life.

Great entry Patrick! Haskins sure is a pitiful creature. So is Moran. I'm sure both had parents who had high hopes for them when they were young, and are now worried that their deteriorated mental states will land them in some bad situations. We really need to focus on better mental health care in this country.

Besides, with his previous history, Moran is even less a propaganda tool than Lakin was. (Lakin had the higher rank and no history of being a nutcase.) And we all know how well the birthers' dreams of "the Lakin case will blow this wide open" worked out...
