16 May - At World Nut Daily, swift boat liar Jerome Corsi posts an article claiming that Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett has promised to ask Hawaii to verify Obama's birth certificate:
"Secretary of State Ken Bennett had promised to ask Hawaii officials for verification of Obama’s documentation, vowing that if answers are not forthcoming, Obama’s name will not be on the ballot.
The assurance came in an email to various constituents in Arizona who had contacted Bennett’s office expressing concern that the name of an ineligible candidate would be presented to voters in November.
“Because of the importance and profile of the president’s case, and at the request of many constituents, I have gone the extra step of asking the state of Hawaii to verify the facts contained in his birth certificate,” Bennett wrote in response to concerns last month. “Hawaii is bound by their own statutes to provide such verifications to other state officials in their official duties."
Bennett seems to know his audience though:
“I can tell from the tone and language of your letters that the only acceptable outcome for you is that his name not be on the ballot, period. That may be what happens, but under my watch, it won’t happen based on opinions, petitions, probability or pledges to support or oppose me in the 2014 governor’s race. My oath of office is to uphold the Constitution and laws of our state and country, and I’m going to do that by following the law,” he said."
I have a couple questions:
1) Does Ken Bennett plan to uphold the "Full Faith and Credit" clause of the Constitution as well?
2) Is Ken Bennett going to demand the same thing from the state that Mitt Romney was born in??
Mind you, the teahaddists that sent this to Ken Bennett already have made their minds up:

16 May - Rep. Mike Coffman of Colorado plays flirty birther games.
"At a May 12 fundraiser at the Elbert County Fairgrounds, Coffman wrapped up a 12-minute speech to donors with an unprompted discussion of President Obama's citizenship and national identification.
"I don't know whether Barack Obama was born in the United States of America. I don't know that," Coffman said. "But I do know this, that in his heart, he's not an American. He's just not an American."
After a short pause, which Elbert County Republican Chairman Scott Wills recalled as "deafening silence," Coffman was met with applause, tentative at first."
And then, when called on it, backpedals.
"Coffman issued a written apology Wednesday evening.
"I misspoke and I apologize," the statement began. "I have confidence in President Obama's citizenship and legitimacy as President of the United States."
And tries to explain it away:
"I don't believe the president shares my belief in American Exceptionalism. His policies reflect a philosophy that America is but one nation among many equals," the statement read. "As a Marine, I believe America is unique and based on a core set of principles that make it superior to other nations."
And it may backfire:
"A spokesman for Coffman's Democratic challenger, State Rep. Joe Miklosi (D-Aurora), weighed in with a statement painting Coffman as out of the mainstream.
"These outrageous comments once again make clear that Mike Coffman is Colorado's version of Rush Limbaugh," Miklosi spokesman Joe Hamill said. "This kind of extremism is why Washington doesn't work."

"Breitbart News has obtained a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama's then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which touts Obama as "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."
The booklet, which was distributed to "business colleagues" in the publishing industry, includes a brief biography of Obama among the biographies of eighty-nine other authors represented by Acton & Dystel.
It also promotes Obama's anticipated first book, Journeys in Black and White--which Obama abandoned, later publishing Dreams from My Father instead."
The funny thing is the sample pages shown show mistakes for the other authors too. (they got the date that Tip O'Neil became Speaker of the House.
Oh, and they're careful to point out that Andrew Breitbart wasn't a birther.

18 May - The people at Breitbart are upset that the normal media aren't taking their little copy editor discovery seriously.
"What was Huffington Post’s headline? “Birthers Make Another Blunder.” Once you click in, the headline becomes, “Obama Birther Rumor Debunked As Literary Agent Clarifies Mistake.” The first line of the piece? “Barack Obama birth certificate conspiracy theorists have been foiled again.”
This leaves questions as to whether the Huffington Post’s editors are actually literate, since Breitbart News’ piece introducing the Obama bio explicitly states repeatedly that Breitbart News is not stating that Obama was born in Kenya, supports the veracity of the Obama birth certificate, and explains that the evidence goes to Obama’s construction of his own biography. Huffington Post did quote the original piece, but buried Breitbart News’ non-birtherism at the end of its article labeling the story a “birther” story. This is magnificently dishonest, and played just as Obama would have his minions play the story."
The problem is that, for all your protestations, you went birther on this one. You can mope and cry and whine about it, but you poured the stink of birther all over yourself, and now you have to wear it.

My father (who was a conservative Catholic Republican and a college professor; the two are not mutually exclusive) had a comic routine he used to do with a colleague mocking politicians who pandered to the ignorant.

Not just the delusion--the hate too. I can just hear Palpatine's voice egging him on as he spews his hatred of the President.
Oh, and mister "internet being shut down is the sign"? Yeah, it's a sign your check didn't clear and your cable company has cut off your porn box until you show up at the counter, cash in hand. Either that, or the MIB are coming for you. It's 50/50, really.
