In today's dispatches, The Globe also turns. KPHO is finding all sorts of interesting things crawling out from under the Maricopa Cold Case Posse rocks. More Ulsterman fiction. "Accuracy in Media" is showing themselves to be anything but. (I suspect they're starting to demonstrate the brand new 2012 Swiftboat line.)
However, the two biggest parts of today's dispatches are the discovery of brand-new Pravda OnLine writer "Lord Howard Hurts". Who just may be a challenger to Lame Cherry's throne of bat guano crazy.
And the second is a brand new birther campaign ad by a group calling themselves the "Conservative Majority Fund". And while World Nut Daily doesn't seem to know who's behind them, there's enough evidence that one can find a whole bunch of rather……interesting……connections. Including a rather familiar name.

23 July - Morgan Loew at KPHO-TV in Phoenix (CBS5), continues his investigation of Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa CCCP.
What may be the biggest lack of a surprise (other than the fact it's being bankrolled by Joseph Farah), is that the Cold Case Posse has a decided lack of law enforcement experience.
"When Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced that he believed President Barack Obama's birth certificate was a forgery, he went to great lengths to defend his Cold Case Posse investigators.
But a CBS 5 investigation shows those investigators have little law enforcement experience for such a high profile and complicated case.
Jerome Corsi is the conspiracy theory writer who brought the birth certificate question to Arpaio last year. He has no law enforcement experience, but a track record of writing conspiracy-laden articles and books, at least two of them about Obama.
That background did not prevent Arpaio from allowing Corsi to travel to Hawaii to assist in the investigation.
Mike Zullo is called the lead investigator for the Cold Case Posse. Last week, he told a room full of reporters that he had five years of experience as a police officer in Demarest, NJ. An online search shows the Demarest Police Department currently employs nine police officers. You can see the website here.
Zullo also reportedly worked as a private investigator before moving to the Valley in the early 1990s. For the past 20 years, Zullo has worked in the car sales business, most recently serving as president and CEO of the company, Autotruth. He did not reveal that information during last week's news conference."
How very interesting. It also seems the Maricopa CCCP may have violated the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office code of conduct.
I know, you're going "wait, Joe Arpaio's office actually has a code of conduct??" I didn't say it was followed very much, did I??
"Cold Case Posse lead investigator Mike Zullo admits he received checks totaling roughly $1,400 for the sale of the e-book version of his investigation into President Barack Obama's birth certificate. But a review of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office official Code of Conduct shows it is an abuse of power for employees or volunteers to use their official position for personal or financial gain."
Well, it makes sense if you figure Zullo was an employee of World Nut Daily and only using the Maricopa CCCP as cover of authority.
"MCSO spokeswoman Lisa Allen responded to a request for comment with the following statement:
"As Mr. Zullo publicly stated before you and other reporters, he has received approximately $1,400 in royalties. He kept none of that money as a personal financial gain, choosing instead to donate all of it."
Ah, taxpayer money at work, paying for Lisa Allen to defend the Maricopa CCCP.
"CBS 5 Investigates reached out to other Valley law enforcement agencies, including Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler and the Department of Public Safety. All reported that it would be against department policy for an employee or volunteer to sell police information.
"If employees are allowed to just generate their own interest, write their own books, sell their own products, it just destroys the public trust," said William de la Torre, a retired Phoenix police sergeant with 24 years on the force.
Active and retired police officers have written books about cases, but those cases are generally closed or cold, unlike the sheriff's investigation into the president's birth certificate, which the sheriff said is ongoing."
Like I said, it makes sense if Zullo is first and foremost an employee of World Nut Daily.

At about 0:43, you can clearly see a rather fluffy-looking man with beet-red skin and white hair in the audience. Looks a LOT like Jerome Corsi to me. And sure enough, at 0:51, it's identified as Corsi.
Wonder why he wasn't on the stage this time...
And it's also very interesting to note that while Zullo claims that the book him and Corsi are selling on Amazon is "simply a book form of the previous press conference", that other law enforcement agencies in the area would see the selling of such a book against agency policies because the results of such an investigation would belong to the taxpayers. The official MCSO excuse that Zullo donated the money to his church doesn't sit well with other law enforcement officials in the area either.
The contempt shown the taxpayers of Maricopa county by Arpaio, Zullo, Corsi, and Farah, is quite astounding.
Hope Arpaio likes the 30 pieces of silver he got from Farah. He seems to be earning them quite well.

What "reasonable persons qualified in the field of document analysis"?? Not a single "expert" the birthers have trotted out have any experience or training in that field, and many of them have confirmation biases or are conspiracy buffs.

24 July - Well, it seems that "Lord Howard Hurts" writes at "Freedom Files".
Not only does "Lord Howard Hurts" have a serious man-crush on Rep. Allan West and Paul Vallely, but he's pretty much in the "Wahh, where's my military coup???" camp, insisting over and over again that the US military has the Constitutional right to unseat an elected President.
Not to mention that he seems to alternate between the belief that Stanley Dunham and "some unidentified black woman" was President Obama's real parents, and that Malcolm X was Stanley Ann Dunham's baby daddy.
He also makes the occasional excursion into complete racism and predictions of a "race war", not to mention tall tales of killing people in Costa Rica and other illegal activities. Oh, and some good old-fashioned sexism and homophobia as well.

24 July - While Lawrence Sellin hasn't appeared at Accuracy in Media for a few months, AIM seems to have decided to follow World Nut Daily's lead in going to birtherstan.
Cliff Kincaid, the "Director of the AIM Center for Investigative Journalism" pens an article about the coding lies in the Arpaio Dog and Pony show, along with Joel Gilbert's claim that Frank Marshall Davis is President Obama's "real father".
“Barack Obama built his political career on the goat herding Kenyan father, by which he meant that he would bring people together and was above politics. So the story went,” Gilbert said. “In fact, it is more likely Obama has a deeply disturbing family background, from which he acquired a Marxist political foundation. Frank Marshall Davis was a member of CPUSA, and a Communist propagandist and organizer, charged with bringing black people into the movement. Some CPUSA members became Soviet spies, stealing America’s atomic weapons plans and helping to ignite the Cold War. Davis was suspected of espionage in the FBI files.”
Gilbert concluded, “While voters will overlook some fudging by politicians, promoting a false family background to hide a Marxist agenda irreconcilable with American values is a totally unacceptable manipulation of the electorate.”
As Gilbert makes his case to the media, he finds resistance, even from conservative media organizations such as Newsmax.com. “On May 2 of this year, I paid Newsmax $4,350, in advance, for an advertising campaign,” he said at my Washington conference last week. “They pulled it at the last second. ‘Why?’ They said it was because they wanted ‘to move to the Center.’”
It's rather ironic that an organization called "Accuracy in Media" has such a complete disregard for the facts, truth. or accuracy of any kind. It's also showing that the far-right is planning to use birther lies in an attempt to win in November.
Sickening.
25 July - World Nut Daily is all aflutter over an anti-Obama birther ad.
"Remember all the questions that Hillary Clinton had about Barack Obama’s eligibility when the two were competing for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination?
Oh, right."
And if Sen. Clinton's campaign thought there was any validity to the claims, they would have been on it like a Rottweiler on a kitten.

Sen. McCain's campaign looked into the claims, and decided they had no validity.

And how do they plan to do this??
“We need 10,000 signatures from every congressional district to boot this guy off the ballot and have the Democrats nominate someone else,” the ad says. “Unless he can tell us who he is, the Democrats need to put up another candidate.”
The 10,000 signatures per congressional district would, indeed, make a huge difference in a presidential election. That would total some 4.35 million voters and if there are some heavily Democrat districts where a difference of 10,000 votes would make no difference, there certainly are a lot of districts in play that would be impacted by a voting bloc that size."
So all they have to do is do is cross the sparkle rainbow bridge into the magic candy forest, find the lucky wish unicorn, who will wave their horn and grant their every wish. Simple!

At least three of the sites are "designed and managed" by Political Media, which was mentioned in the World Nut Daily article. Their "about" page says:

It looks like "Christopher Pernice" has got a bit of a birther history though. For example, on Facebook, under a post in "American White History Month", we find:

25 July - So I found on Business Wire a 20 February 2012 press release identifying Michael Centanni as the "Chairman of Freedom's Defense Fund". He was also identified as such in a 24 February 2012 fundraising letter for Rick Santorum.
They were also behind the 13 December 2011 anti-Obama "Keep the Change" ad. For that matter, much of their efforts seem to be oriented towards…..attack ads.
25 July - "Covert Informant" at Doc. Conspiracy's "Obama Conspiracy Theories" checks LinkedIn, and finds that Political Meda's President is one Larry Ward. I checked LinkedIn, and Christopher Pernice is listed as the "Creative Director"
25 July - A visit to the Conservative Majority Fund had on their front page ANOTHER ad. This one, however, was posted to YouTube on 4 February 2012, several months before the Conservative Majority Fund was supposedly founded.
It's a woman's voice, and it's pretty much every conspiracy theory about President Obama out there, with a crapload of racist dog whistles and debunked audio and video clips (the fake "welcome to Kenya" sign even makes an appearance. It's screamingly anti-Islamic as well, and ends with "Barack Hussain Obama, your days are numbered!" (Followed by "Paid for by the Consevative Majority"
I'm smelling an entire swarm of rats here….

Seems they believe that the propaganda value of Powell meeting Arpaio about the issue (and thus giving credence to his bullcrap) is high enough on its own, even if Powell were to issue a statement "I've looked at everything and it is nonsense" afterwards.

Patrick, have you seen any ACTUAL evidence that these latest Birther attack ads have been played anywhere on an actual TV channel, cable or otherwise?
A few Birthers have made the claim that Fox News Channel showed one of the ads...possibly twice.
However, outside of the Birther claims (and we know how well they tend to hold up), I haven't seen anywhere else report seeing these ads actually play on TV. Considering all the media watchdog sites out there, I would think this level of crap would get noticed, if it had actually aired anywhere beyond the internet...

G - The first time I saw that video, it was a homemade one that looked like it had been recorded by a camera pointed to a TV.
In addition to that, an old friend said she saw it during an episode of "ID-Investigation:Discovery"
So there seems to be some evidence that it's had at least some release
