Some are missing the point here. The article is concerned with the political cover-up of Obama's past, yes. But the higher subject is the fact that out of the great number of military personnel in the United States (yes, I was once one of them) so far there has been only one man with the courage to actually stand up for that which is right in accordance with his sacred oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constititution (not some politician such as POTUS). It's a sad state of affairs when our sworn oaths become meaningless, but here is a man (Col. Lakin) who is a wonderful example for all. May his tribe increase. To blindly obey illegal orders is tantamount to repeating the crimes of the Nazis who did the same. Aren't there others with such gut-wrenching courage and patriotism as that of Colonel Lakin?

You don't know the difference between a [long form] Birth Certificate and a COLB: Certification Of Live Birth. The Long Form, which was used in 1961, gives much more detail. Also, Maya (Obama's half-sister) has a Hawaiian COLB — and she was born in Indonesia.

12 August - I'm starting to think the right-wing's demands for President Obama's college records is almost a "birther lite" thing.
Besides the obvious, (the fact it deflects from Mitt Romney's refusal to release his tax records), it pretty much has two other modalities.
1) By harping on the college records, it allows the far-right to make the claim that President Obama was an "affirmative action" student that got special admission and qualifications based on race. (Wayne Allyn Root has been making this claim as well).
2) It also gives a wink and a nudge to the birthers who have been demanding these records to confirm their fantasy that President Obama got scholarships based on being a "foreign student".
In both cases, it's a dog whistle to many that President Obama is "different", "other", "not really an American". And the fact that Mitt Romney has refused to denounce his surrogates (like Donald Trump) who make these demands continues to speak volumes about his morals and ethics.
Not surprisingly, Newt Gingrich jumps on this bandwagon.

“I think every Obama request for transparency should be met with ‘do we get to see your senior paper at Columbia?’” Gingrich said when asked about the topic during an interview with reporters at The Daily Caller on Friday.

Obama’s campaign has made a major issue out of calling on Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to release more copies of his tax returns. Some conservatives have responded by bringing up the fact that Obama’s academic records are sealed."
They aren't "sealed" as much as "protected by privacy laws", but since when have they cared about the facts?

12 August - The Daily Caller notes that on Fox News Sunday, DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz doesn't know who is in the PAC that made an anti-Romney ad.
“First of that’s a Priorities USA — it’s not a Democratic ad,” she said. “It’s a Priorities USA super PAC ad which we have nothing to do with it. I have no idea the political affiliation of the folks associated with that super PAC.”
But she explained the ad in her mind was less about the death of the cancer victim and more about the overall impact on someone’s life as a result of Bain Capital’s actions under Mitt Romney.
“That is a super PAC ad that is not affiliated with the campaign or with the party,” she continued. “What I think of the ad is there is no question that the ad raises facts such as that Mitt Romney when he was CEO of Bain Capital bankrupted companies, laid off workers, cut their benefits and made millions in profits. That ad points out that there are consequences to making decisions like that that impacted people’s live in a significant way. That was what that ad was underscoring.”
Rep. Wasserman Schultz would also know why there hasn't been any fuss or complaints about PAC ads like the "Conservative Majority Fund" pack of lies. (said ad ran on Fox News)

I see that 'Donna Kaufman' commenter reckons Obama is fixing the vote - by means unspecified - since of course he can't actually win the popular vote (or the Electoral College) on his own....for some reason, unspecified!
It looks to me that the Republicans are busy trying to make sure that people won't be able to vote for Obama even when they want to.
