Dispatches From Birtherstan - 4-8 October 2012

In today's dispatches, the Israeli press takes note of their own local birther. The Article II Extra Crispy Bucket of PAC hit's a whole new low. Susan Daniels is told "no, you can't have have charges, not yours". Susan Daniels has a breech-birth cow in response.

More info on Joel Gilbert's steaming pack of lies, which seems to have quite the sugar daddy behind it. Charles Kerchner seems to think he's the determiner of who was born properly and who's a questionable foreigner. The "foreign donations" conspiracy claim of 2008 gets dusted off for 2012.

Larry Klayman continues to show his naked insanity, rage, and bigotry. Miki Booth and other birthers are just starting to realize that Sen. Tom Coburn was blowing off the insane woman in the audience. The birtherstani have a mad at Vermont. Paul Ryan may have economic plans not based in reality, but at least he seems to have little use for the birthers.

Tim Adams gives his take on the birtherstani. The American Stinker recycles a month old report, rehashes Joel Gilbert, and buffs Jerome Corsi's butt, all at the same time. Robert Gibbs takes a shot at the conspiracy theory du jour. And Paul Irey whines to Dr. Orly that neither him or Douglas Vogt are getting any of that steamy hot love from Joe "Macho Sex God" Arpaio.

20 September - The Jerusalem Post makes note of Israel Hanokoglu's website.

"While Bibi seeks to persuade the Americans that he is not intervening in their election campaign and his only considerations are the rotating centrifuges in Qom, ridiculous and characteristic mishaps continue to occur on a daily basis.

A few days ago, as Netanyahu hopped from American network to network to explain in his impressive English how he was not involved in the battle between Romney and Obama, one of his former advisers, Prof. Israel Hanokoglu, published an “investigation” on his Internet site purportedly proving that Barack Obama’s birth certificate was forged, that he wasn’t actually born in America, and therefore he shouldn’t be the president of the United States.

The “investigation” was removed very quickly from the Internet site (apparently following heavy pressure from Netanyahu), but in the meantime it was picked up by many Republican websites in the US."

2 October - In a brand-new Washington Times ad, the Article II super-duper extra deluxe PAC hits a whole new low by bringing up the Virginia Sunahara myth. Complete with a picture of the poor child's gravestone.

"Yet, when the Sunahara family requested a copy of her original birth certificate from the Hawaii Department of Health(HDOH) they received a computer generated abstract also known as a short-form certification of live birth that was shockingly out of sequence. Not satisfied, the Sunahara family requested a certified copy of her own “long-form” original birth certificate, but was denied. They sued."

1) The only member of the Sunahara family to sue was Duncan Sunahara, who was paid to by Dean Haskins and others.

2) Duncan Sunahara got exactly what he was entitled to under Hawaiian State Law.

3) It's not out of sequence. Virginia Sunahara was born at a different hospital than Barack Obama. Also, she died soon after birth. Both those facts alone would account for the "Out of Sequence" claim.

"Apparently it is too much of a burden on the State of Hawaii to make a 5-cent copy of a public record, but it’s not too much of a burden on the State of Hawaii to defend their decision in a court of law at a cost to Hawaii’s taxpayers, thus far, of thousands of dollars"

And I'm rather hoping the State of Hawaii goes after Duncan Sunahara and his backers for attorney fees and costs.

"Under oath Hawaii’s Deputy Attorney General Jill Nagamine stated “to get the long form you actually do have to go to the vault. And the records that are in the vault have been bound in volumes, not just the one, not just plaintiff’s sister’s records, but other records from around that time of birth, for example, in this case, the President’s birth certificate,which we know this is all about that ."

Since nothing in the Sunahara case mentions Barack Obama, or says anything about his birth or birth certificate, why is the Deputy AG so much more concerned about protect-ing Mr. Obama than she is in doing the right thing for the Sunahara family and ALL the residents of the great State of Hawaii?"

Maybe because this case is being bankrolled and heavily supported by birthers?? They're not stupid people, despite what the birthers seem to think.

3 October - So David Joyce, Geauga County Prosecutor, tells Susan Daniels "no, you can't have charges against the President of the Unites States, not yours.

The affidavit was forwarded to our office in accordance with R.C. §2935.l O(A). Our office has reviewed your affidavit and determined there is no probable cause to believe President Barack Obama has committed the crime of Identity Theft, in violation of R.C. §2913.49"

Well, duh??

"You claim in your affidavit that there are suspicious elements surrounding President Obama's use of an SSN beginning with "042." You allege that the Social Security Administration assigns numbers on the basis of the applicant's state of residence and zip code. You also allege that numbers beginning with "042" were issued only to residents of Connecticut .

Our investigation discovered these allegations not to be accurate. The Social Security
Administration itself states that

the area number assigned has been based on the ZIP code in the mailing address provided on the application for the original Social Security card. The applicant's mailing address does not have to be the same as their place of residence. Thus, the Area Number does not necessarily represent the State of residence of the applicant, either prior to 1972 or since." http://www.socialsecurity.gov/history/ssn/geocard.html (Emphasis added).

As our investigation of your allegations has not returned any evidence of a crime, our office will not be pursuing any charges against President Obarna."

Something Susan Daniels has been told REPEATEDLY. And doubtful she'll ever accept.

3 October - The Young Turks reports on Joel Gibert's liefest.

Here's an interesting note. Several debunkers, including Loren Collins and myself, noticed that all the pictures Gilbert uses came from adult and fetish magazines from the mid 1950's.

That means that, if the pictures WERE of Stanley Ann Dunham, then she was under the age of 18 then they were made…..and Joel Gilbert is distributing child porn as a result.

3 October - Over at Birther Report, Charles Kerchner throws Rick Santorum and the Republican Partyunder the birther bus.

"We thus have another reason the Republican Party has been trying to abrogate and ignore the “natural born Cititzen” clause instead of trying to legally amend it out of the U.S. Constitution which would be very difficult to do once the People learned and fully understood the critical national security implications of removing that clause as to who can be the President and Commander in Chief of our military. Obama is an obvious example of the national security implications of having a person who is not a natural born Citizen being seated in the Oval Office. When people ask why the Republican Party is silent on the lack of natural born Citizenship of Obama answer to them — Marco Rubio, Rick Santorum, and Bobby Jindal … and likely other upcoming Republican stars who are NOT natural born Citizens of the United States to constitutional standards and whom the RNC wants to run for President of VP anyway."

Scribd link here. Basically it's a de Vattelist thing - Aldo Santorum wasn't a naturalized citizen at the time of Rick's birth, so therefore he wasn't conceived with the Sacred Sperm of US Citizenship.

No real comments towards Santorum with the inmates, but some racism towards Obama.

4 October - ConWebWatch reports on Larry Klayman's increasingly shrill cries about President Obama.

"For instance, take Klayman's May 12 column, which contains the following actionable claims:

He twice refers to Obama as the "mullah in chief," despite the fact that Obama is not a Muslim. He falsely accuses Obama of personally having "disclosed that so-called double agent CIA operatives infiltrated al-Qaida and uncovered an airline bomb plot." There is no evidence to support this claim. He insinuates that Obama is gay because he he endorsed gay marriage, writing: "If there is any humor to this – which there is not – one could ask, 'What’s a guy to do if he is married to Michelle?'"

Klayman kept it up in his May 25 column:

Third, Obama has harmed our national security by illegally disclosing classified information about our intelligence-gathering methods, sources and capabilities. In recent front-page New York Times stories I have previously written about, Obama had his minions at the CIA, National Security Agency and Defense Department criminally leaked not only how we gather intelligence on the Iranian nuclear program, but also our war plans if the United States is drawn into a conflict between Israel and the mullahs should a unilateral Israeli attack of the nuclear facilities prove necessary.

There was no evidence at the time that Obama personally played any role in making such disclosures, and Klayman did not provide any.

You'd think a guy with such a record of legal failure would be much more careful in choosing his words. Apparently not.

That meltdown-prone level of anti-Obama bile inside Klayman, it's no surprise to learn he's a birther as well -- indeed in that same May 25 column, Klayman declared that it's an "unlikelihood" that Obama was born in Hawaii and that his birther certificate was "doctored." He also asserted that "Obama was not eligible to be president of the United States" because "As provided for in the Constitution, only a “natural born citizen” can become president – that is, someone who is sired by both an American citizen mother and father."

4 October - Oh look. They're recycling the 2008 "foreign donations" story..

"President Obama's reelection campaign, rattled by his Wednesday night debate performance, could be in for even worse news. According to knowledgeable sources, a national magazine and a national web site are preparing a blockbuster donor scandal story.

Sources told Secrets that the Obama campaign has been trying to block the story. But a key source said it plans to publish the story Friday or, more likely, Monday.

According to the sources, a taxpayer watchdog group conducted a nine-month investigation into presidential and congressional fundraising and has uncovered thousands of cases of credit card solicitations and donations to Obama and Capitol Hill, allegedly from unsecure accounts, and many from overseas. That might be a violation of federal election laws."

I'm suspecting those "sources" were Snap, Crackle, and Pop.

4 October - The State of Vermont files court papers asking that the Apuzzo-written case filed there by H. Brooke Paige be dismissed.

"The lawsuit brought by a former Republican U.S. Senate candidate seeking to have President Barack Obama tossed from Vermont’s November election ballot because he is allegedly not a natural-born citizen is “legally unsound” and should be dismissed, the state of Vermont contends in court papers.

“Plaintiff lacks standing to sue, has sought relief in the wrong forum, requests relief that cannot be granted and bases his argument on flawed legal reasoning,” Assistant Attorney General Todd W. Daloz wrote in a dismissal motion filed at Washington Superior Court in Montpelier.

Daloz rejected the claim by plaintiff H. Brooke Paige of the town of Washington that Obama is not a natural-born citizen because only one of his parents was an American citizen when Obama was born."

Paige seems to disagree with it.

"Paige said Thursday he was preparing a several-hundred-page response to Daloz’s motion. “I’m quite certain it’s flawed,” he said, referring to the state’s motion to dismiss."

In other words, he's waiting to find out what Mario Apuzzo has to say about it.

And of course it's several hundred pages. Apuzzo can't say "I'm taking a dump" in under 500 words.

At least the State of Vermont is honest about the case's chances.

"Daloz wrote that courts in a number of other states have turned aside similar challenges to Obama’s eligibility to be president.

“While this is the first so-called ‘birther’ lawsuit in Vermont, such suits have a robust legal history, one that heretofore produced uniform results: dismissal,” Daloz wrote."

In other words, a perfect record of zero wins for the birthers.

4 October - At World Nut Daily, the human face race doesn't seem to understand that Sen. Tom Coburn was humoring the crazy lady when Miki Booth confronted him.

"Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., appears to dodging a campaign promise he made to look into evidence President Obama’s birth certificate is a forgery."

"In a letter to a constituent dated Oct. 2, Coburn said his staff had reached out to the office of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Phoenix after making a promise to tea-party activist Miki Booth at an Aug. 7 town hall appearance in Claremore, Okla. At the campaign event, Booth was seen on video confronting the senator about a letter she had written to him.

“My staff has reached out to Sheriff Arpaio’s office,” Coburn wrote in the constituent letter. “However, I have yet to be presented any credible evidence to demonstrate President Obama was not born in Hawaii.”

And it's very doubtful they would get any credible evidence from Joe Arpaio either.

"However, Mike Zullo, lead investigator for Sheriff Arpaio’s law enforcement investigation into Obama’s eligibility, insists Coburn has yet to see the evidence his team has uncovered indicating the document the White House posted as Obama’s birth certificate is a forgery.

“I was initially contacted by Ken Ashton, an aide to Sen. Coburn in Sen. Coburn’s Washington office, on Sept. 4,” Zullo explained to WND. “I provided Ashton at his request, an overview of the sheriff’s investigation, focusing on the document fraud.”"

So let me get this straight. Someone from the Senator's office contacted Arpaio. You gave him the steaming load of road apples that Corsi provided Arpaio and the Maricopa CCCP. And somehow you think he didn't see your "evidence"??

"Zullo said the episode was typical of the repeated frustrations the sheriff has experienced trying to get Congress to look at the birth certificate evidence.

Wouldn't that require the office actually HAVING "credible evidentiary information" rather than the usual birther load of non-credible evidence??

5 October - I'm going to assume that Larry Klayman ignored the parts of the Bible that prohibited a believer from being a "False Witness". Because his latest article from World Nut Daily makes it very clear that Klayman thinks he's on a "holy crusade" against President Obama.

A repeat of #1. Sounds like Klayman is more worried about Israel than the US though.

This one's cute. Not only is it a rehash of 2008 campaign lies, but repeats #1 and mixes "Treason" "Nazi", and "Islamicist" into a whole conspiracy frittata.

Falsifying birth records to fraudulently get Obama’s name printed on state presidential ballots, when he is not even eligible to run for the office of the president under the U.S. Constitution since he is not a natural born citizen born in the United States to two citizen parents at the time of birth."

And he ignores the over 150 court cases that kicked out those claims.

This is pretty impressive. He used the term "treasonous" six times, along with other claims that, in a real courtroom, could be seen as calls for the death penalty. Which makes me wonder if Larry Klayman (who HAS called for military coups and armed overthrows of Washington in the past), may be trying to rile up someone who try for an assassination attempt.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if his "grand jury" results come back with just that. Or at least a Manning-like fake trial followed by "sentence".

"So while it was satisfying to see Obama squirm during the first presidential debate when shown the white light of Christian truth, We the People cannot rest and must use our God-given rights to enforce the Constitution by using the citizens grand jury to indict, and then try and convict the “Muslim in chief.”

5 October - So while Mitt Romney has no problems with having birther surrogates (or playing flirty games with birthers), Rep. Paul Ryan actually seems to have little use for them.

"Like many of his fellow congressmen, Ryan has been bombarded for years with letters from conspiracy theorists who believe President Obama was somehow secretly born in Kenya and so is ineligible to be president. The missives began even before Ryan became one of the president’s biggest foes on budget issues and more recently as he joined the GOP ticket alongside MItt Romney.

But unlike some in his party who have been embarrassed by their own clunky and awkward responses to the birthers, Ryan has come up with an easy solution to deal with them.

He simply sends them a copy of the president’s birth certificate.

In response to questions from TPM this week, Ryan’s office provided copies of the form letters his staff has used over the years to respond to questions about the president’s citizenship. Polite and measured if not a little dry, the letters break the bad news to the birthers in the kindest possible terms.?

6 October - Loren Collins updates his debunking of Joel Gilbert's liefest.

" Jack's suspicions about Gilbert were confirmed when Gilbert whipped out a measuring tape. Gilbert had not previously asked to do any measuring, and Jack naturally recognized that the dimensions of his rooms would be utterly irrelevant to a History Channel documentary about Davis' poetry.

As Jack explained to me, what's the truth about the floors in his house? The truth is that they don't match the floors in the nude photos. The windows? They don't match the windows in the nude photos. The room seen in the published photos is plainly not a room inside the house at 2994 Kalihi Street.

Thus, it took Jack quite by surprise when a friend contacted him after Gilbert began promoting his movie, to let Jack know what was being said about his house. What he found surprised him. Whereas he had thought that by letting Gilbert inside the house that it would make Gilbert realize that his theory was wrong, Gilbert had instead gone a different route: he had simply decided to lie about what he found in Jack's house. He lied about the floors. He lied about the windows. He lied about finding the room from the photos. And that wasn't all: Gilbert's claim to have found "a complete original piece of plywood" in a shed that matched the flooring in the photos? That didn't happen at all, says Jack.

What's more, Jack was later contacted by Jerome Corsi himself, and Jack told him as well how his house bore no resemblance to the room seen in the photos. And displaying a complete disregard for journalistic integrity, Corsi simply ignored what Jack told him, and instead has reported Gilbert's story as the truth. "

6 October - All the birthers have a pretty good talent at putting two and two together and coming up with penguin. But Birther Report can usually be counted upon to show the same deductive skills usually only seen in squirrels who have undergone a lobotomy.

Case in point, their tempter tantrum that Talking Points Memo showed form letters from Rep. Paul Ryan's office that shows he's got little interest in birthers, and has had such for a long time now.

"Obama's far-left Talking Points Memo knows Obama's wheels are coming off his bus after he was completely demolished at Wednesday's debate. They must have also noticed the recently released poll showing 73% of Republicans are "birthers" and 40% of Americans doubt Obama's birthplace. They are attempting to demoralize potential voters.

Don't fall for it!

TPM dug through years of television appearances and newspaper articles trying to find anything related to Obama's eligibility and Rep. Paul Ryan. All they were able to get their hands on was a uniformed response from 2011, that we have all seen before, and an inquiry that Rep. Paul made to the FEC back in 2008. Again, TPM is attempting to keep a very large segment of the voting population from voting on election day.

Don't fall for it!"

I suspect this boils down to a fear by the people running Birther Report that if Ryan is seen as unsympathetic to their cause (unlike Romney, who has a distressing habit of having birthers as surrogates and campaign co-chairs), then some of the birtherstani may actually do something like, oh, stay home.

And the next paragraph pretty much confirms it.

"Now, I know some readers may not like what they are about to read but I don't give a flying Soetoro. One of the main goals of this blog was to expose Obama for what he is, a complete fraud, which both the media and political establishment refuse to do. The fun here is that they just started a brand new commenting system intended to not allow anonymous posts and to allow the users to "vote down" comments. Almost like they're, oh, I dunno, scared of dissenting posts, debate, or failure to stick to the party line. (Remember when the Pest and eFail decided to stop comments, and then only allow moderated ones. Now it's behind a paywall reduced to posting articles about Dr. Orly and Walter Fitzpatrick to a handful of commenters….)

I want Kenya Boy's truth revealed and justice served as much as anyone else does but Romney will be smart to leave it alone. "Birtherism" is a political career killer. 7 October - The American Stinker finds a rather interesting claim.

"Why are people still talking about the birther issue? Congress and the Supreme Court have said they're not looking into it. But this issue clearly still has legs.

According to Adam Berinsky, a professor of political science at MIT, the birther issue never really went away. He's been conducting polls on the birthplace issue, which he compiled in an article called "The Birthers are (Still) Back." To wit, a lot of Americans continue to have doubts about Obama."

Here's the problem. The article they cite is from 11 July 2012. It's hard to say something has "legs" when the "proof" is almost three months old when you make the claim.

The article then goes into a rehash of Joel Gilbert's liefest.

"The premise is that Barack Hussein Obama is not the real father of the president, but was instead engaged in a sham marriage to Stanley Ann Dunham for the purpose of covering up the identity of Obama's true father, Frank Marshall Davis.

On the surface, this sounds like a pretty strange theory"

Well, if by strange you mean "completely made up" and "steaming pile of bovine byproducts", then yes.

And look, the author has a crush on the human face rash!

"The courageous Jerome Corsi is, of course, a noted expert on the birth certificate. "

Noted liar and conspiracy nutter, yes. He's an "expert" only by the extremely low standards of World Nut Daily and Birtherstan.

"The entire narrative for Stanley Ann Dunham -- the adolescent girl who fell in love with a "Kenyan goat herder" she met in a Russian class at the University of Hawaii -- is pretty hard to swallow. The story is fraught with anomalies and contradictions. Stanley Ann was pregnant with Obama when she was 17 years old and unmarried. Gilbert has a theory of who did the deed."

And here's Gilbert's problem. Ignoring the fact that the "pictures" in question have all been dated to mid 50's fetish magazines, even if they WERE of Stanley Ann Dunham, then they're when she was under the age of 18.

Which means that any picture that Gilbert claims of Stanley Ann Dunham is, due to the age that Gilbert claims SAD was at the time, child pornography.

You know, Gilbert might want to recant this claim quickly before someone files a complaint that, though his DVD, he's distributing child porn……

7 October - Looks like Gilbert's sugar daddy came though again, as Swiftboat liar and human face rash Jerome Corsi reports.

"Filmmaker Joel Gilbert has mailed 2.7 million copies of his full-length documentary “Dreams from My Real Father” to households in key swing states, with 1.5 million going to Florida, 700,000 to Colorado and 500,000 to Iowa.

The mass distribution follows a mailing last month in which Gilbert sent 1.38 million DVDs of “Dreams from My Real Father” to households in swing state Ohio along with 100,000 to New Hampshire and 80,000 to Nevada."

That's 4.08 million copies. Someone has very deep pockets and an almost criminal disregard for the truth.

Oh, and it's the smear that matters, even if President Obama is reelected.

"Gilbert told WND he believes the publicity resulting from the mailing of 2.7 million DVDs to Florida, Colorado and Iowa, following his September mailing of 1.38 million to Ohio, New Hampshire and Nevada will help “Dreams from My Real Father” remain relevant for years, whether or not Obama is reelected."

And there's more on the way:

"Gilbert said he was planning next on a million DVDs being mailed to Pennsylvania, Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois.

“We can manufacture and ship 1 million DVDs per day out of Southern California,” he explained. “In the meantime, the 2.7 million DVD mailing to Florida, Colorado and Iowa households, and following up on the 1.38 million mailing to Ohio, New Hampshire and Nevada should force the mainstream media to pay attention. This will help expand the market for the film into television, video on demand and even internationally.”"

Though it IS possible that Joel Gilbert is lying about all of this as well. It's not like Gilbert or Corsi have much concern for the facts.

7 October - Obama campaign advisor (and former Press Secretary) Robert Gibbs takes a shot at the so-called "Jobbers" (those who think Obama is artificially manipulating the unemployment numbers). And takes a shot at our favorite conspiracy butters in the process.

"Robert Gibbs, an adviser to the Obama campaign, said that the idea that the Obama campaign or administration meddled with the September jobs report is "absolutely crazy" in an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday. Gibbs said that Jack Welch, the former GE CEO who promoted the theory on Friday, "embarrassed himself."

"I assume, David, there's a number of people that believe the real unemployment rate is somewhere in a safe in Nairobi with the president's Kenyan birth certificate," Gibbs said, addressing host David Gregory. "I mean this stuff is absolutely crazy… And the notion quite frankly that someone as well respected as Jack Welch would go on television and single-handedly embarrass himself."

"We wonder why institutions in this country, the perceptions of institutions, are failing: because people go on TV and make stuff up," Gibbs said."

What gets me is that political discourse in this country has become so polluted that conspiracy theories about the president (the birthers, not to mention the college record folks and the "jobbers") have become mainstream and have people actually taking them seriously rather than dismissing them into the nearest trash can like they deserve.

As far as these DVDs that Gilbert supposedly sent out, I'm not so sure that he isn't breaking child pornography laws. Even if the woman in the photos isn't Stanley Ann, he is representing that they are. If he is representing that they are, then they would have had to been taken before she was of age to pose for such pictures. So, under current Federal Child Pornography laws, I do believe that he can be charged with distributing child pornography and anyone that receives the DVDs should turn them over to the FBI or they could be charged with possession.

It be nice if that would happen....

I live in Ohio. My physical therapist received the Gilbert DVD. She was asking if anyone knew what it was. I explained it to her and told her it was another type of birther theory/smear. Her response - "What's a birther?" She had no idea - she'd never heard of birthers.

@insomnia - Birthers give themselves WAY too much credit. Most people do not pay attention to the news or know what a birther is.

It took me almost a year before I ever heard of birthers and that's because I had a death in the family and was home watching MSNBC when Orly Taitz had her meltdown. I found her interview so amusing that I had to look her up and that's how I learned about the birthers.

The friends I have that don't pay that much attention to politics or watch the news programs at night don't know what birthers are nor do they know anything about this 'massive' conspiracy to elect a non-natural born citizen for a president. When I DO discuss what birthers are up to and their thoughts on the NBC requirement, they laugh in amusement and call them stupid because they know that anyone born in this country is a natural born citizen regardless of who their parents' citizenship as long as the parents' aren't diplomats from another country or an invading army. They even point out that President Obama would be NBC even if he had been born in Kenya - at least as far as they're concerned.

For me, birthers are merely a form of entertainment - especially Orly Taitz and all of the stupid things she continues to get away with. It's a combination of train wreck/soap opera type attraction for me.
